Not only adults, but children as well were willing to gain Islamic knowledge, taking active part in the process. It has been a good tradition to hold children’s contests in Ramadan, which unite children in search for knowledge and offer them a chance to compete in goodness. It’s a good stimulus to develop children’s perseverance and self-discipline.
Children look forward for Id-Al-Fitr, as not only the festival prayer, joy of meeting friends and dear ones or good wishes to each other are expected, but also a joyful festival program and, indeed, the long waited announcement of the contest winners.
The contest devoted to young Muslims’ learning of the Holy Book was held in the last third of Ramadan. Its benefit is clear, as from year to year its permanent participants compete at the increasingly higher level, enhancing in this way scopes and quality of their knowledge.
In the category “3 juz”, prize places were won by Anisa Afzel (I place), Takwas Abu-r-Rubb (II place), and Abdurrahman Salama (III place).
In the category “1 juz”, prize places were won by Bashir Abu-r-Rubb (I place), Abdullah Akramov (II place), and Yara An-Najar (III place).
In the category “1/2 juz”, the top place was shared by Ubaudulah Adulayev and Abdullah Afzel, the second place was taken by Umar Abdullayev, and the third place was taken by Mubina Yakubzhonova.
Prize winners of the contest got money prizes. Small encouraging sums were allotted for the participants not winning a prize place in this year.
Contest of paintings
Children’s creativity is also encouraged during Ramadan; children were offered to paint whatever they like on the theme of Ramadan and Id Al-Fitr, and submit their paintings for contest. After that all the works were hanged for everybody’s view, so that the authors of best works would be chosen for Id Al-Fitr.
As all the children were very assiduous, it was decided to share each prize place among several participants.
The first place was shared among Rama An-Najar, Yara An-Najar and Ahmad Swidan; the second place – between Aisha Dadahanova and Asiya Baybiyesova; the third place – between Sadakat Akramova and Fatima Laraib.
Apart from painting kits, prize winners were given toys and soap bubbles. In addition, all the participants got kits of markers for enhancing their painting skills and preparation for the next contest in the series.
