“Alraid” Association released an open report for their work in 2008-2011

In mid-May, 2012, the All-Ukrainian Association of Social Organisations «Alraid» released an open report for their work in 2008-2001.

The All-Ukrainian Association of Social Organisations «Alraid», created in 1997, is a first union of Muslim NGOs in Ukraine now containing 20 of them in different regions of the country. «Today it can be said with confidence that «Alraid» represents the highest social and cultural authority for the Muslim ummah of Ukraine. This became real due to the zeal and selflessness shown by each member of the team in this hard effort» — the former President of the AUASO Ismail Kady stated.

 

The AUASO «Alraid» is a non-profit organisation engaged mostly in cultural, educational and charitable activities, offering aid to Ukrainian citizens regardless their nationality and religious confession.

Special emphasis is placed on supporting such most vulnerable social groups as women, children and teenagers. The Association is promoting of the women’s role as the active part of the society, helping them in  their self-development and defending their rights. Parents are provided with support in building balanced relationship between them and their children. This is attained by holding various events on child guidance and family counselling, where both religious scholars and psychologist are involved. 

 

The Association encourages the youth to turn their leisure activities into quality time. This is done through various sports, entertainment and intellectual competitions; and also by promoting healthy life and high moral standards.

 

As the poor people need aid most of all, the Association launched and sponsored dozens of charity projects, and many of them still give tangible results.

And then, free suppers are provided in Islamic cultural centers each year in time of Ramadan, and meat is distributed to the poor on the eve of the sacrifice holiday.

 

Moral and material support to Ukrainian orphans is among the priority tasks of the Association, which takes care about more than 1700 of them.

The AUASO «Alraid» systematically organizes various events on promoting peace and cohesion both in Ukraine and on international scene; developing cooperation with the representatives of other religions and cultures; disseminating human values of

good and mercy, humanism, tolerance and justice; and propagating healthy way of life and fostering a comprehensive personality. The Association’s achievements in this field were repeatedly acknowledged by awards and diplomas from the governing bodies and also international public, religious and education organisations.

 

Local organisations of «Alraid» have free Sunday schools teaching Arabic and introducing Islamic culture. Everyone can become a student, regardless of religion, nationality and age.

«Alraid» organises annual cultural and education seminars, roundtables and conferences; and also takes part in events held by the governing bodies, NGOs and research institutions.

 

Islamic cultural centers are visited by scientists, public activists and leading professionals in Shariah studies, foreign journalists and diplomats from Europe, the U.S., Post-Soviet and Islamic countries.
