Winners of V all-Ukraine Competition of Researches on Islamic Studies declared

Winners of the V-th all-Ukraine Competition of Researches on Islamic Studies of Young Scholars of  Agatangel Crimsky on the topic "Islam in Europe: yesterday, today, tomorrow", based by the all-Ukraine Association of Social Organizations "Аlraid" and the all-Ukraine Social Organization "The Ukrainian Centre of Islamic Studies" are summed up and declared.

Solemn rewarding of winners took place within the limits of the program of the International Scientific Conference on the topic of Islam in the European Society which took place on March, 30th, in the Islamic Social Cultural centre of Kiev.

The young scholars, whose works were recognized the best, received diplomas and monetary compensations. Moreover, all participants of the competition got complete sets of books on Islamic subjects for own using and establishments in which they study or work.

For the winners of the competition is also organized a fact-finding trip to Muslim historical places in Ukraine. They will also be involved in research programs.

The list of the best works

Among of almost three tens of scientific works which arrived to the organizing committee of the competition, the best were recognized the following ones:

I place. "Islamic rationalism and European mentality through the prism of philosophical traditions: the intersection and interoperability".

The author - Oles Bogdanovich Kulchinsky, the post-graduate student of the faculty of the Turkic studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies of Аgatangel Crimsky of the NAS of Ukraine.

II place. "Islamic factor in the French popular literature and film in 1995-2007". The author - Bogdana Vladimirovna Sipko, the master student of the historical faculty of the Lvov National University of Ivan Franko.

III place. "Features of Islamic banks and their entry into the European financial markets". The author - Inna Mihaylovna Moskalenko , the student of the III course of registration-financial faculty "Ukrainian academy of banking of the National bank of Ukraine".

Besides, works of five following contestants were recognized good enough. Namely:

1. "The Muslim community of South-Eastern Ukraine: retrospective analysis of the example of Ekaterinoslavand, Katerynoslavskaya province". The author - Oleg Evgenevich Afanasyev, the candidate of geographical sciences, the senior lecturer of the chair of physical and economic geography of the geological-geographical faculty of the Dnepropetrovsk national university of Oles' Gonchar.

2. "Stereotyping of Islam in mass media discourse". The author - Maria Valeryevna Butyrina, the doctor of sciences on the social communications, managing chair of advertising and public relations of the Dnepropetrovsk National University of Oles' Gonchar.

3. "Miniature "Miradzh of Muhammad" from the Museum of Art of Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko in the context of Iranian miniatures school of the XVI century." The author - Oksana Mihaylovna Kononchuk, PhD, the teacher of the chair of the Middle East of the Institute of Philology, the Kiev National University of Taras Shevchenko.

4. "Muslims of Kiev (mid. of the XIXth cent. - 1917)" The author - Natalia Vladimirovna Ryndyuk, the editor of the Open Company "The Publishing House of "Stylos".

5. "Preserving of values of the Muslim family against the decline of public morality in Ukraine".The author - Tatyana Mihaylovna Yastremskaya.

Preparation of the collection

Now preparation for the edition of the collection of works of winners of the V-th all-Ukraine competition is conducted. After processing of materials by scholars and editors, the works will be published on the site "Islam in Ukraine".

Organizers of the competition express gratitude to all young scholars who sent their works on jury consideration, and wish new scientific achievements.
