PRESS RELEASE: February, 14-15th — Special Date for Muslims

With support of the all-Ukraine Association of Social Organisations "Аlraid" and the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine "Ummah" in mosques and Islamic cultural centers of different cities of Ukraine will pass the actions dedicated to the for the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.

February, 14-15th is a special date for Muslims of the whole world — birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, Mawlid an-Nabi. One and a half billion person are today followers of Islam. Every fifth inhabitant of the Earth believes that the Prophet Muhammad is the last Messenger of God. Addressing to his life, they find the greatest inspiration and manual. The Quran asserts that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent to the whole mankind " as a Mercy for all creatures" (The Holy Quran, 21:107).

Speaking about Mawlid, it is necessary to mention that during lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) this day was not marked in any special way. Significant date appeared in the Islamic calendar much later — after distribution of Islam to the different countries, on different continents.

The all-Ukraine Association Social Organizations "Аlraid" and the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine "Ummah" support the Muslim communities which are carrying out actions, dedicated to Mawlid to tell about life and mission of the Prophet, about his invaluable contribution to the development of the human civilization. Such actions will pass in mosques of Lugansk,
Donetsk and other cities of
Ukraine.
