On 9-10 November 2019 Kyiv Islamic Cultural Centre hosted the XX Jubilee All-Ukrainian Qur’an Recitation Contest. 77 participants competed, regardless of their age and sex, in five cathegories. Those who knew the whole Holy Book (30 juz) by heart competed first — there were 9 of them. After them, there was a tournament among the 15 people who knew half of the Book (15 juz). Later, there was a competition among those 18 people who managed to memorize one third of the book (10 juz). 17 people competed in “5 juz” category, and another 18 people waged a contest in “2 juz” category.
We are happy to announce the prizewinners of the Contest, selected by the competent jury consisting of Sheikh Haider Muhammad Al-Hajj (hafidh, theacher of the Holy Book and certified master of 10 kiraat — styles of recitation of the Holy Book), Sheikh Murat Suleimanov (Imam of Lviv Muhammad Assad Islamic Cultural Centre), and Shaikh Bilal Hamzeh, Head of the jury (Head of the Ukrainian Qur’an memorizing Association and Imam of Odessa ICC).
