Today’s benefit became real thanks to many people: Some poured in literally by having donated their blood for the people needing it, others, not fit to be donors themselves, helped with organisation, and team of medical workers from Kyiv City Blood Centre did all the medical work and gave everyone a lot of positive emotions, as usual.
It all resulted in a very meaningful Ukrainian Unity Day, when people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds gathered together at Islamic Cultural Centre in order to give those in trouble hope not only for a better tomorrow — but for the very tomorrow. While 13/5 litres of blood we collected is not some enormous amount, but in a situation when all the blood types are almost out of stock (this situation occurs annually after the New Year festivities), this allows to save lives trembling in the balance.
It’s a really wonderful opportunity to share a little bit of life with someone without shortening your own. It’s like happiness — the more you share it, the more you have it in the world.
