At the Islamic Cultural centre of Kharkiv they decided to ring the changes to traditional Qur’an reciting contests with a new competition for Arabic-speaking students. The contestants were proposed to compete in best knowledge of 4- Hadith from the Imaam An-nAwawee digest; not only by quoting the text, but naming the whole chain of transmitters of this or that hadith as well. Besides, the jury could ask anyone to explain some phrase in the text and reveal its meaning. Tree best students received valuable prizes.
Social organisation “Al-Manar” was founded in 1994 and has been a place Kharkiv Muslims (including foreign students) could gather for all these years. Supporting foreign Muslims far away from their home and helping them to customise, but still practice Islam while studying in Ukraine, is one of the organisation’s goals. The volunteers arrange lectures, seminars, contests, excursions and trips on their own, so they can have a nice time and support each other in the foreign land.
