Feast’s Prayers are to be held at “Alraid” Islamic Cultural Centres and organisations are to be held on Thursday morning. Ukrainian Muslims will celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan termination and maturing Fast-Breaking Fest Eid-al-fitr (Turk. “Uraza-Bayram”, vainakh “Marhazh”).

The AUASO “Alraid” and RAMU “Umma” sincerely congratulate all Muslims upon this candid occasion. We wish you peace, and may the Almighty be pleased with you! May He accept your fasting and your good deeds, and may He forgive your wrongs and your sins at the same time, and free you from your sorrows on the Day of Judgement!

Muslims living in the Capital are to come to Kyiv Islamic Cultural Centre, where the prayer is to begin at 8AM. Same events will be held in other mosques and Islamic Cultural Centres, namely in Luhansk (8:30 AM), Kharkiv (8:00 AM), Donetsk (8:00 AM), Odessa (8:30 AM), Zaporizhzhya (7:30 AM), Vinnytsya (8:30), Lviv (8:30 AM), Dnipropetrovsk (7:00 AM) and Crimea (6:30 AM).

Eid al-Fitr is a great feast celebrated when the Muslim Fast is over, on the first day or the next month after Ramadan. This is one of the two greatest feasts in Islam celebrated by Muslims all over the world. The believers gather for collective prayers at mosques on the Eid morning.

For Muslims this day is a time to analyse their achievements for the past period as well: how they spent the days of Fasting, whether they made the most of lost those days or lost them in vain, doing bad deeds and saying tormenting words, and whether he wanted to improve with all of his heart for God’s sake. This is why Eid al-Fitr is first of all summarising the achievements and feeling themselves as parts of Ummah as a whole.

The fundraising is performed in advance, so that the poor Muslims could receive that money and prepare themselves for the Fest as well. Such social aid is called “zakat al-fitr” (sadaqat al-fitr) and has to be donated during Ramadan before the Eid prayer. Sadaqat al-Fitr is a special charity, as it’s a must for you fast to be accepted if you have means beyond your basic needs.

Zakat al-Fitr (UAH 35 this year) is provided on behalf of each family member, even the kids. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)  imposed the charity of al-Fitr after Ramadan, a measure of date or barley on all Muslims, slave or free, young or old, male or female. "Fasting in the month of Ramadan lies suspended between the earth and Heaven. It is only-raised (to Heaven) by Zakat of al-Fitr", he said.

Good deeds are rewarded multiply during Ramadan comparing to other days by dint of the Lord’s Mercy. For that reason the believers also try to pay obligatory taxation - zakah - during Ramadan. This money is spent for social needs.

Eid is celebrated with special inspiration and is accompanied with sincere treatment and attending relatives and friends.
