announce IV Agatangel Krymsky All-Ukrainian competition of Islamic studies for young scientists
on the theme 
“Transformation processes in the contemporary Islamic world”
Scientific works devoted to religious studies, history, studies of literary sources, culture studies, art studies, philology, law, economics and other scientific fields are accepted, which pertain to the above mentioned theme. The competition theme doesn’t imply geographic, chronological, political or other limitations, and covers all the regions of the world. A sub-theme can be any research problem pertaining to history and current condition of Islam in the world.
Thematic coverage:
1. Spread of Islam in the contemporary world.
2. Islam and contemporary political movements. 
3. Social teaching of Islam in the contemporary world
4. New phenomena in the life of Muslim ummah.
5. Reasons and implications of “Arab spring”.
6. Muslim countries within the system of international relations.
7. Islam and ethno-cultural traditions of Turk nations in Ukraine.
The competition is open for students, post-graduates, lecturers of HEEs of III-IV accreditation level, research fellows from research institutes, analysts and experts from research centers, workers of museums, archives, libraries, public organizations, aged younger than 35. Religious, national, political, social and other affiliation of competitors does not matter.
Papers for the competition can be written by single author or in co-authorship (not more than three authors). Studies contained in the papers may used for future scientific research of participants or in preparing term papers, diploma works or dissertations. Works that have already been awarded or encouraged, or have been submitted to other competitions are not accepted.
The following premiums are envisaged for winners: the first premium – 4000 grn., the second premium – 3000 grn., the third premium – 2500 grn. Five competitors whose works are prepared at rather high scientific level win the encouraging bonus in amount of 800 grn. Winners will be invited for participation in II summer school of Islamic studies and in research programs of the Ukrainian Center for Islamic Studies. Also, winners and encouraged participants will be given honorable diplomas and literature meant either for private use or for libraries in institutions where they work or study. When the winners are co-authors, the prize will be shared between them on equal basis. Each competitor whose work is written in keeping with scientific and technical requirements but has not passed through competitive selection receives an encouraging present.
Works can be written in Ukrainian or Russian. The text must be submitted in one copy printed on PC (format F4, font 16, all the margins 2 cm, double interval). Text volume varies from 24 to 40 pages (including the list of references). References must be laid out according to the standards, including references to electronic resources, and placed after the text in citation order. Text is expected to consist of the foreword (containing a review of sources and literature used in the study), the core part, conclusions and the list of references. The printed copy of the paper must be duplicated by the electronic copy to be sent on e-mail address of the Association.
Title page contains only paper title. Name and surname of author(s), of scientific supervisor (if any), date of birth, information on place of job or study (title, address and phone number of institution or organization); year of study and faculty (or specialty), postal address, contact phone and e-mail (if any) must be laid out in a separate sheet. Recommendations from two research fellows are welcome (especially from scientific supervisor), which have scientific publications relevant to the theme. Information about author(s) and recommendations must be certified at the job place of competitors or research fellows issuing recommendations. The above documents are to be submitted in the attached envelope, on which only the work title is written. 
The text with the attached envelope is to be sent or taken personally by December 15, 2012 (date of dispatch is determined by post stamp) on the Association address: AAPO “Alraid”, 25a, Degtyaryovskaya str., 04119, Kiev, Ukraine.

Final decision about competition results will be taken by expert team by 20 January 2013. Competition organizers will exercise the right of publishing best works of young scientists. Manuscripts are not to be returned. Papers containing fragments of other authors’ texts of (issued in form of publications or displayed in Internet) without references are not allowed for competition.
Official summing up of the competition results and the ceremony of awarding winners and encouraged competitors will be held in February 2013, which will be informed to competitors in individual invitations. Expenses for travel to Kiev and back for winners and encouraged competitors will be covered by organizers. A celebration party is envisaged, arranged by traditions of eastern hospitality.
